Zac Efron and Alexandra Daddario, two beautiful early-thirtysomething actors, were photographed together with their dogs, shopping for pet toys together. They were also apparently “enjoying themselves, laughing while sitting in traffic in Daddario’s white Ford explorer,” according the photo agency. Efron loaded their merch into the car and was “seen sweetly untangling the [dogs’] leashes wrapped around Daddario as they prepare to leave.” Enjoying themselves in LA traffic!? Efron getting “sweetly” handsy untangling dog leashes that were tying Daddario up? Sounds like love (at least to TMZ.) Or, if you deep dive Efron and Daddario’s Instagrams, a man very determined to get a girl to like him.

Last May, AlexandraDaddario shot down the rumor the two are anything more than friends. “I don’t know that I started it,” she told E! during Baywatch press. “We work together closely; he’s my love interest in the film. I understand why people would go crazy over something like that, but Zac and I are very good friends.”
But Zac Efron has really been trying to prove they’re more than that. On March 16, he posted the most boyfriendy birthday tribute to Daddario: “Happy birthday to one of the the most real, down to ????, stunning, intelligent, creative, loving, and most rare Pokémon ever created #alexdaddario” He hashtagged her name, as famous boyfriends do when they want her fans to notice that she’s with him. Or that he wants her to be with him.
Daddario liked the post and responded just the way you do to the guy who has a bigger crush on you than you do on him. “Thank you zac,” she said with a red heart emoji. Then he went one step further with all the emojis:
This has been going on for some time. Efron and Daddario are Baywatch costars, and over the last year Efron has been regularly liking Daddario’s Instagrams. He’s left flirty comments. He posted a flashback thirst image of her in bed from their Baywatch press tour. Maybe this really is just friendly. Or maybe this is just a man trying to make a romance happen, one Instagram like at a time.
Alexandra Daddario hasn’t really reciprocated Efron’s aggressive Instagram liking on her end. She does like an occasional Efron ‘gram—and more regularly lately, but still not frequently. And she does not post images of Efron unless they’re related to Baywatch press…though her birthday party was an exception. Here, a deep dive of the two’s Insta relationship.
Daddario’s Birthday Party
Here’s a rare Efron appearance outside of Baywatch on Daddario’s ‘gram. Around the time Efron posted that birthday tribute, he attended her 32nd birthday party. He appears in her Instagram of herself blowing out her candles. Oh, and he liked the post, duh.
